Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using TaxNova's calculators.

Are TaxNova's calculators free to use?
Yes. Every calculator on TaxNova is completely free, with no sign-up, no email capture, and no hidden paywalls. We plan to support the site through limited, clearly-marked advertising rather than charging users.
How accurate are the tax calculations?
Our calculators are built directly on the latest Income Tax Act slabs, rebates, and rules published by the Income Tax Department, and we show every formula used. That said, they're designed for estimation and planning — for your actual tax filing, especially with complex income sources, we recommend confirming with a qualified chartered accountant.
Do you store any of my financial information?
No. All calculations run directly in your browser. We don't ask you to create an account, and your salary or deduction details are never sent to or stored on our servers.
How often are the tax rules updated?
We update every calculator immediately after Union Budget announcements take effect, and each calculator page shows the exact assessment year and "last updated" date it's built for.
Which tax regime should I choose — Old or New?
It depends entirely on how many deductions you claim. Broadly, if you have significant HRA, 80C investments, or home loan interest, the Old Regime often works out cheaper. If you claim few deductions, the New Regime's lower slab rates usually win. Use our Income Tax Calculator to see your exact numbers for both.
